KUNDALINI YOGA
Kundalini Yoga is ideal for beginners, aiming to awaken consciousness through mastering energy, achieved via asanas, breathing techniques, bandhas, and mantra chants. Its practice is tied to the tantric tradition and remains highly relevant in our hectic 21st century. This ancient wisdom, adapted to our current needs, centres on the very essence of humanity, which could be described as eternal. Today, stress management is crucial, as is the aspiration to lead a happy life, achieve personal fulfilment, create meaningful and beautiful things, and deepen self-understanding.
What is Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is an ancient science refined over thousands of years to help people achieve their highest potential. Kundalini Yoga blends many aspects of spiritual work into one practice: breathing, postures, meditation, chanting, and deep relaxation. It integrates the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your being.
The postures we teach are simple and easy for beginners (in our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training). Most people can do most of the postures on their very first day. The emphasis is on breath and meditation, not on challenging postures. Most of the exercises consist of gentle movements that are coordinated with the breath. These are designed to stretch the body gradually and smoothly and stimulate circulation. All our classes end with a powerful meditation and deep relaxation.
Kundalini Yoga is more than a system of exercises; it is a powerful tool for expanding one’s awareness.
Some of its effects are:
Kundalini Yoga has powerful and palpable physical effects, awakening new perceptions, sensitivity, and consciousness levels.
- Eliminates toxins from the body.
- Flexibility throughout your body.
- Increases energy, endurance and vitality.
- Increases concentration and creativity levels.
- Deepens your ability to relax and retrain your breathing.
- Releases impurities from the subconscious.
- It gives you an awareness of the power of self-transformation.
- Connects you with your maximum latent potential, allowing you to feel and manifest it in all areas of your life.
Kundalini Yoga is much more than a physical activity. It is a comprehensive therapy that gradually leads you to deeper levels of fulfilment and well-being, where you can experience your sacred essence and the meaning of your human life.
Essential Elements of Kundalini Yoga
- Kriya – a set of asanas in a specific sequence selected for a specific effect.
- Pranayama – breathing techniques to enlarge the pranic body.
- Mudras – hand positions that close the energy circulation.
- Mantras – or Words of Power and Intention- are essential to Kundalini Yoga. During each class, we listen to or sing an ancient mantra.
- Shabad – Sacred Hymns (extended Mantras), which, like the Mantra itself, cause a neuro-chemical reaction in the brain, resulting in positive changes at the subconscious level and thus bringing about profound changes in consciousness.
How does it differ from other forms of Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is a diamond. It contains all the elements of Yoga and is an emanation of 8.4 million kriyas, each like a separate musical piece played on an instrument of the body. It is the fastest way to achieve harmony between body, mind, and soul.
As the teacher says, Yoga is for modern people and answers modern problems for people who can combine this practice with an active life in a fast-changing reality. Systematic practice brings fast and profound changes on many levels, including incredibly subtle bodies and consciousness. Kundalini Yoga also brings about very beneficial changes in the physical body, mind, and personality.
